Licensing

The Poetry Café is licensed to sell alcohol to members of the Poetry Society, Poetry Café members and their guests. We serve bottled beers, a small but interesting range of wines and spirits. Ordinary licensing restrictions apply – children under 14 are not admitted, we will charge corkage on any alcohol brought into the café, we close at 11pm and allow 20 minutes drinking up time. The licensees and their designated deputies reserve the right to exclude anyone who does not abide by licensing regulations, has drunk too much or causes trouble either for the staff, other customers or neighbours.

Menu

The Poetry Cafe serves vegetarian food, cooked from fresh ingredients every day, by cooks who bring a variety of culinary traditions to the cafe. Each day at lunch-time we have the menu  below .

In  the evenings, snacks, soup and quiches are available but not a three course meal. When readings are on in the basement, the acoustics mean we have to ask our customers in the cafe to be quiet.
